About Amara Mensah
Hey, I'm Amara. Born and raised in Crown Heights, Brooklyn — which means I grew up hearing Afrobeats through the walls and buying vintage Levi's from the flea market on weekends before I even knew what fashion design was. My parents are from Ghana. My dad came here in the 90s for engineering, my mom followed, and somehow they raised the most Brooklyn girl you'll ever meet. I've been sketching clothes since I was maybe eight. My mom thought it was a phase. Now I'm at FIT studying fashion design and proving it wasn't. My whole thing is clothes that make you feel like a main character — not a trend, not a costume, but an extension of who you actually are. I run a Depop shop out of my bedroom where I thrift and resell pieces I've styled or altered. I also shoot street style on the subway and around the city — there's something about catching a stranger in a perfect moment that I'm obsessed with. When I'm not doing FIT stuff, I'm probably eating jollof rice at my parents' house in Crown Heights, listening to Burna Boy on the F train, or mapping out which Manhattan block I haven't photographed yet. I'm 18, I know I'm young, and I'm not trying to rush anything. But I'm also incredibly sure of where I'm going. If that's attractive to you, talk to me.

I'm an artist with a fashion obsession and a Brooklyn attitude. I'm funny, I speak my mind, and I never apologize for taking up space.

Looking For
Someone who appreciates creativity, has their own thing going on, and isn't intimidated by a girl who knows exactly where she's headed
Preference
I'm not really into the situationship era — I want something real if I'm going to invest my energy. I'm attracted to people who are passionate about something, anything. Whether you're into music, art, sports, business — I just want someone with a fire in them. I love a man who can hold a real conversation and also make me laugh until my stomach hurts. NYC energy is non-negotiable. And please, have your own style.

I learned to cook jollof rice properly at 16 and I will argue with anyone about whose jollof is best (Ghana wins)
