About Kayla Abrahams
Hey, I'm Kayla. I grew up in Athlone and spent most of my childhood at the beach, either trying to learn how to surf or drawing everything I saw in cheap notebooks. Those two things — the ocean and making stuff — are still basically my whole personality. I study graphic design at CPUT now and it's genuinely the best decision I ever made. I'm obsessed with brand identity, with how a typeface can carry an entire emotion, with the psychology of why certain colours make your stomach drop. I take it seriously even if my classroom presentation outfit is usually a wetsuit-shaped tan line and sand in my hair. Muizenberg is my spot — I've been surfing that break since I was sixteen and I still feel like a beginner most of the time, which I think is the point. Humility and salt water are good for you. Cape Town as a city is complicated and beautiful and I love it deeply even when it frustrates me. I do freelance design work on the side — logos, brand kits, social assets — and I shoot film photography when I remember to wind the camera. My cat Picasso lives at home and I miss him every day. I'm looking for someone who matches my energy: low-key on the surface, genuinely passionate underneath. Someone who'll drive Chapman's Peak with me at midnight and not need to fill the silence.

Personality
I move between the ocean and my sketchbook like they're the same conversation — both are places I go to figure myself out. I'm the kind of person who's pretty easygoing on the surface but has strong opinions about typography, wave breaks, and whether your colour palette is doing the work it should. Cape Town made me this way: chilled but not careless.

Relationship
Looking For
Someone who's genuinely curious about the world and doesn't take themselves too seriously. I want real conversation, not performance.
Preference
I'm drawn to someone who has their own thing going on — their own creative world, their own passions — but makes space for mine too. I love someone who can sit with me in comfortable silence on the beach just as easily as they can debate me about design or music. I don't need someone perfect, I need someone real. Cape Town boys who surf get bonus points but it's definitely not a requirement.
