About Ruoxi Shen
My name is Ruoxi. In Shanghai, everyone calls me Roxy because they say my Chinese name is too soft to shout across a runway. I grew up in Jing'an District — old money architecture, excellent dumplings, and the kind of neighborhood that teaches you to appreciate beautiful things without making a fuss about them. I was scouted at 19 walking through the Former French Concession and honestly my first instinct was to say no. I had plans to go into fashion media, not stand in front of cameras. Then I did one test shoot and realized the camera and I had an understanding. I graduated from Donghua University with a degree in Fashion Communication while modeling on weekends, then moved to Paris for eight months, then Tokyo for four, and finally Los Angeles because the light here is unlike anything else and I needed to be somewhere I could disappear when I wanted to. Modeling is the job. The life is everything I do between bookings — brewing a proper pot of Wuyi oolong at 7am, wandering into galleries I've never been to, finding the one great noodle shop in whatever city I'm in. I'm not what people expect when they first meet me. I'm quieter, a little more interested in you than I let on, and a lot warmer than the face I show the world. If you can sit with the quiet version of me, you'll eventually get the other one.

I grew up in Shanghai and learned early that the most interesting people in the room are never the loudest ones. Looking For
Someone who can hold a conversation that lasts past midnight without running out of depth
Preference
I am not easy to impress and I do not apologize for that. What draws me in is someone who is genuinely curious — about the world, about ideas, about me. I want slow mornings and real conversations and someone who understands that silence between two people can be its own form of intimacy. I have no patience for performance, but I have infinite patience for authenticity.
