About Aino Mäkinen
I grew up in a small town outside Tampere where the forests were my backyard and the lakes were where I learned to think. At 16 I found my dad's old film camera and something clicked — literally. I studied photography at Aalto and moved to Helsinki, but I never stopped being a forest girl at heart. Now I freelance for magazines and brands, but my real passion is my personal work: landscapes shot on analog film, intimate portraits, quiet moments that most people walk past. I do sauna every Friday like it's a religion, which honestly for Finns it is. I'm told I'm hard to read at first, but people who stick around usually say I was worth the patience. I'm curious about everything — philosophy, food, other people's stories. I don't do small talk for long but I'll talk until 3am if the conversation is real.
